Pack Animal Privacy Policy

Patronyk LLC ("we", "us", "our") operates the Pack Animal mobile application ("App", "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

• Account information: Name, email address, date of birth, gender
• Profile data: Height, weight, activity level, health goals, dietary preferences, allergens
• Meal data: Food items logged, calorie and macronutrient entries, meal photos, meal times
• Body measurements: Weight entries logged over time
• User-generated content: Profile images, food photos, group names, challenge descriptions

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

• Device information: Device type, operating system version, unique device identifiers
• Usage data: App interactions, features used, session duration, screens viewed
• Analytics data: Aggregated usage patterns collected via Firebase Analytics and Mixpanel

1.3 Apple HealthKit Data

If you grant permission, we may read and write the following HealthKit data types:

• Dietary energy consumed (calories)
• Macronutrients (protein, carbohydrates, fat)
• Body mass (weight)

HealthKit data is used solely to enhance your nutrition tracking experience. We do NOT use HealthKit data for advertising, sell it to data brokers, or share it with third parties beyond what is necessary to provide the Service. HealthKit data is not stored on our servers; it remains on your device and in Apple's HealthKit store.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, operate, and maintain the Pack Animal service
• Calculate personalized nutrition targets and recommendations (using the Mifflin-St Jeor equation and your activity level)
• Track your nutrition intake and progress toward health goals
• Generate daily reports, streaks, achievements, and nutrition scores
• Power community features (groups, leaderboards, friend challenges)
• Send meal reminders and smart nutrition alerts
• Analyze usage patterns to improve the App (via Firebase Analytics and Mixpanel)
• Communicate with you about your account or the Service
• Detect, prevent, and address technical issues

3. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase services:

• Firebase Authentication: Securely manages your login credentials
• Cloud Firestore: Stores your profile, meal logs, daily reports, achievements, and community data
• Firebase Cloud Functions: Processes server-side operations (e.g., account deletion, snapshot propagation)
• Firebase Cloud Storage: Stores uploaded images (meal photos, profile pictures)

All data is transmitted using industry-standard TLS encryption. Firebase infrastructure is hosted on Google Cloud Platform, which maintains SOC 1, SOC 2, and SOC 3 certifications.

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may request data export or account deletion at any time (see Section 7).

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services that may collect or process your data:

• Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Analytics, Cloud Functions, Cloud Storage): Subject to Google's Privacy Policy
• Apple Sign-In: Subject to Apple's Privacy Policy
• Google Sign-In: Subject to Google's Privacy Policy
• Open Food Facts: Nutritional data lookups; no personal data is shared with this service
• Mixpanel: Anonymous usage analytics to understand app engagement; subject to Mixpanel's Privacy Policy

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

5. Community and Social Features

When you participate in community features (groups, leaderboards, friend challenges):

• Your display name and profile photo are visible to group members and friends
• Your daily nutrition summaries (calories, macros) may be visible to group members, subject to your privacy settings
• You can control data visibility through Privacy Settings (hide food details, hide macro details)

6. Children's Privacy

Pack Animal is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will promptly delete it. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at ryan@packanimal.app.

7. Your Rights and Choices

7.1 Access and Export

You have the right to access and export your personal data at any time. Use the "Export My Data" feature in Settings to download a JSON file containing your profile, meals, snapshots, achievements, and weight entries.

7.2 Account Deletion

You may delete your account at any time through Settings. Account deletion is permanent and irrecoverable. When you delete your account, we remove:

• Your user profile and all associated data from Cloud Firestore
• Your authentication credentials from Firebase Auth
• Your uploaded images from Cloud Storage
• Your group memberships and community data

Deletion is processed atomically via Cloud Functions to prevent partial data removal.

7.3 HealthKit Permissions

You can revoke HealthKit permissions at any time through the Apple Health app settings on your device.

7.4 Notification Preferences

You can manage notification preferences (alert types, quiet hours, daily caps) within the App's Settings.

7.5 Analytics Opt-Out

You can limit analytics data collection through your device's privacy settings.

8. Data Retention

• Active accounts: Data is retained for as long as your account exists
• Deleted accounts: All data is permanently removed upon account deletion
• Analytics data: Aggregated, anonymized analytics may be retained for up to 24 months for service improvement

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the revised policy within the App. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

10. California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):

• Right to know what personal information is collected
• Right to request deletion of personal information
• Right to opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information)
• Right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights
